“A detour is placing you exactly where you belong.”

This wasn’t a wrong turn

This message shows up when you’ve been calling something a setback… but it’s actually a reroute. Not because you failed. Because the old road couldn’t take you where you’re headed.

How the detour has been showing up

You might relate if:

  • a plan keeps stalling even though you “did everything right,”
  • you feel pulled away from what used to excite you,
  • you’re in an in-between season—no longer who you were, not yet who you’re becoming,

you keep thinking, Why is nothing landing the way it used to?

The truth (with love)

You’re not lost. You’re being repositioned.
And yes—repositioning feels like confusion at first because the familiar landmarks disappear.

What this detour is protecting

It’s protecting you from building your future on an outdated version of you.
Some doors aren’t closing because you’re unworthy. They’re closing because the “yes” would have kept you small, busy, or misaligned.

The simple redirect rule

When your path reroutes, don’t chase the old route harder.
Ask: “What is trying to open that I’ve been ignoring because it’s new?”

Do this today (small but powerful)

Write down the last 3 “reroutes” you’ve experienced (a delay, a no, a plan changing). Under each, write one sentence: “This might be placing me closer to ____.”
Example line: “Maybe this pause is placing me closer to work that fits me.”

How you’ll recognize today’s sign

You’ll notice a new breadcrumb: a topic that keeps appearing, a person who mentions something twice, a sudden curiosity, a clean opportunity that feels oddly “timely.”
Your clue: it feels fresh, not forced.

Next step

Choose another cookie. One of them reveals what the detour is specifically steering you toward.
